Two Lethbridge Non-Profits Earn National Recognition for High Impact and Transparency |
The Interfaith Food Bank and Fresh Start Recovery Centre have been named among Canada's top 100 charities, shining a spotlight on their crucial work in the community. |
Two essential Lethbridge non-profits are receiving major national accolades for their outstanding service and operational excellence.
The Interfaith Food Bank and Fresh Start Recovery Centre were both recently named to a prestigious list of Canada's Top 100 Charities.
This recognition is not something organizations apply for; it's the result of an independent assessment of financial transparency, impact per dollar, and reporting.
For the Interfaith Food Bank, this marks the third consecutive year earning a spot on the distinguished list.
The organization was lauded with a “high” rating for its demonstrated community impact and a solid B+ for its results reporting.
Remarkably, about 90 cents of every dollar donated to Interfaith last year directly funded its programs.
Executive Director Danielle McIntyre called the honour a testament to the real-world difference donor dollars make for local families.
She highlighted that the award validates the critical role food banks play in addressing food security, an issue of growing concern across the region.
The food bank's vital services include emergency food hampers, client advocacy, community gardens, and valuable kitchen training programs.
Similarly, the Fresh Start Recovery Centre, which offers addiction treatment services in both Lethbridge and Calgary, was recognized for its profound impact.
The centre, which operates a 50-bed facility in Lethbridge for men and women, also received a “high” rating for impact and a B+ in results reporting.
An impressive 86 percent of its funding is channeled directly into providing recovery and rehabilitation services.
The results speak for themselves, with 98 percent of patients reporting that staff helped them believe recovery was possible.
Furthermore, an overwhelming 89 percent of clients found a renewed sense of community and belonging through the program.
This distinction places a well-deserved national spotlight on the tireless work happening right here in Lethbridge to support our most vulnerable residents.
