The City of Lethbridge is launching a new and convenient way to deal with that drawer full of old batteries.
In a groundbreaking partnership with Call2Recycle Canada, the city is introducing Alberta's very first curbside battery collection program.
Running from November 18-28, the initiative allows residents to recycle used batteries on their regular green cart collection day.
Participation is simple: gather your old household batteries (like AA, AAA, C, D), tape the positive (+) terminals to prevent sparks, and seal them in a clear bag.
Place the bag on top of your green cart for collection crews to see.
This program offers a safe disposal option, as improperly discarded batteries can pose a serious fire hazard.
While special bags are available at locations like City Hall and public libraries, any clear resealable bag is acceptable. Read More... |
